First principles before procedure
Every topic begins with why the result is true. A student who can derive a formula recognises it in an unfamiliar disguise; a student who memorised it can only hope the paper is polite.
Twenty-eight years of teaching Secondary and JC mathematics. NUS Mathematics, former MOE teacher, and an examiner for both the IB and Cambridge — lessons built on understanding rather than memorisation.

Every topic begins with why the result is true. A student who can derive a formula recognises it in an unfamiliar disguise; a student who memorised it can only hope the paper is polite.
Examiner work for both the IB and Cambridge means knowing where marks are actually awarded and lost — the missing justification, the unstated domain, the answer left in the wrong form.
Practice comes from top-school preliminary papers and past examination questions, curated by topic and difficulty rather than photocopied wholesale.
Having marked the scripts, I know where the marks are lost. Much of the work is closing the distance between what a student understands and what the examiner can actually credit.

Siblings taught together: $160/hour. Referral: one free lesson when a referred student completes four.
A condensed set of notes on vectors: the ideas that carry the topic, the question types that recur, and the places marks are most often dropped.
A short message is enough to start: the level, the paper, and what is currently getting in the way.
